Where better to see a legend than at the Museum of American History. Sam Moore ran through about 90 minutes of classic oldies from the Dawn of Stax. The Memphis Horns were popping out the riffs and were later joined by the late Lee Atwater.

Camera was with me because I was a tourist and it was just a once in a lifetime thing.

Sam Moore

one-half of The famous R&B duo Sam and Dave, has earned seven gold and platinum records and a 1967 Grammy Award. One of Stax Record's most successful groups. Sam and Dave were known for their trademark call and response style and emotional intensity, which echoed Sam's early years as a gospel singer. Supported by the songwriting talents of David Porter and Isaac Hayes, and with tracks punctuated by Stax Record's Memphis Horns they produced a string of hits starting with "You Don't Know Like I Know' in 1964, and followed by such classics as 'Hold On, I'm Coming," "Soul Man," "Soul Sister, Brown Sugar' and 'When Something Is Wrong With My Baby." Since the early 1980's Sam Moore has won new acclaim as a solo artist, appearing in concert or on recordings with such fans as Phil Collins, Annie Lenox and the Eurhythmics, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Lou Reed, and Dan Aykroyd .

Lee Atwater was then chairman of the Republican National Committee under President Bush. He also was owner/founder of a BBQ restaurant chain called Red, Hot & Blue
