NOTHING'S SHOCKING LIVE 89

Jane's Addiction

I read the CD review and the ad for the show in the weekend section of the Hartford Courant and decided to take a trip to New Haven based on that impulse. I had never heard of them at this point but anyone who was described as a cross between IGGY Pop and Led Zep couldn't be half bad. Got there early and immediately was pressed against the stage. They started with Up The Beach and went straight through the first Warner Brother's release (Nothing's Shocking). I was totally blown away by the clean powerful funky sound and by the all-ages crew singing to all the songs ! For most of the show I was on my toes ,leaning and swaying, trying to get that shot, totally mesmerized by Perry Farrel and and his control of the show. Highlights for me were Had a Dad, Mountain Song, Idiots Rule, and Pigs In Zen. I'm pretty sure they did Lou Reed's Rock n Roll that night and some earlier tracks like Whores

Here is a shot of Steve Perkin's Drum Kit and Bass Player Eric A.
Sorry no shots of Navarro as I was pressed up on the right of the stage. No escape from the crowd.
