One Whoa-man Show July 25 2013

Beatnik’s in Worcester is such a great venue for live music. The owners are supportive of the scene & so personable. They don’t stick to a formula or a genre in their bookings so there is a great variety of music coming through here. This night was a feature of one man bands. Locals Zack Slik & Big Jon Short opened up the night for headliner Molly Gene.

Zack started off with old-timey banjo picking, mandolin strumming, harp blowing porch music. Quite a master of all he picks up & you can’t help but sing & stomp along. See if you can resist…

Big Jon Short has been playing & teachin the blues for years and it shows. It seems effortless but yet so much emotion pours from the guitar & his voice. Here’s a song from his full blues band, Big Eyed Rabbit played solo.

Armed with a full drum kit under her feet & a guitar in her hand, Molly Gene rocks harder than both these two put together. Hard punky blues, legs flying, sweaty & sexy… not to be missed.
